Bridport Green Fortnight  Friday 24th March - Saturday 8th April 2017

Bridport will be 'going green' for a fortnight this spring, when the Town holds its first ever “Green Fortnight”. Its aims are to celebrate Bridport’s local shops and products and inspire local people towards a more sustainable lifestyle.

Transition Town Bridport is heading the fortnight and we are working with the green party, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and other groups, businesses and individuals in the Town to promote a greener and more sustainable local economy.

Bridport Town Council will show their support for the Fortnight by turning the Town Clock face green for the duration of the event.

Bridport is lucky to have high streets with two greengrocers, three butchers and two bakers and unique local businesses.  One of our key messages will be that we want people to ‘Buy Local First’. This helps keep money and jobs in the local area and reduces the mileage that goods have to travel from production to shoppers. We are obviously not the only organisation that has promoted this message  - our aim is by working together with others the message can have a greater influence and impact than working alone. If you belong to other organisations within the town who would like to play a part in Green Fortnight please get in touch.
