The return of the Sid Valley Business Awards is a chance for your business to claim a spot in the limelight
Sidmouth Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the hard work of the whole business community.
Award categories include shops with more or fewer than five employees, sole traders, lifestyle companies and professional and trade services.
There are also three categories for hospitality: pubs, restaurants and bars; tea rooms, coffee shops and tourist stops; and hotels, guests houses and B&Bs.
The three finalists in each of the nine categories will be announced in the Herald on Friday, November 17, and be allocated two tickets apiece to the awards ceremony at the Victoria Hotel on Saturday, January 6.
A panel of judges will decide the category winners and an overall winner from all 27 finalists – decided by a public poll – will be named ‘Sid Valley Business of the Year’.
Andy Downham, who is organising the awards on behalf of the chamber, said: “It’s not about being the best – it’s about deserving a spot in the limelight. It will be great if we can embrace the whole business community and celebrate what a fantastic place Sidmouth is and so much due to the input of those who work here.”
Chamber chairman David Wheaton said: “The Sid Valley Business Awards were started in January 2014 as a tribute to the quality of businesses in the EX10 area. Other awards events have been held since and have been a great success.
“The pride with which businesses have displayed their trophies and certificates is evident from the fact that some have remained on display ever since. We look forward to another successful and rewarding evening in January 2018.”
The awards ceremony will feature a black-tie three-course meal, followed by a celebration party with music from local band Sky Lizard.
The deadline for entries is Friday, October 20.
