The consultation for the Port Royal is now finished:
Futures Forum: Plans for Port Royal: anticipating a Regeneration Board >> Scoping Study consultation > 'No plans or designs are being considered or decided on at this stage, purely the possibility of improvement and viability of the important seafront site.'

There have been many questions around process:
Futures Forum: Plans for Port Royal: anticipating a Regeneration Board >> Scoping Study consultation and "independent experts"

The District Council has just released this update:

Port Royal in Sidmouth – consultation update

A concept idea for the Port Royal area in Sidmouth has been developed by consultants as part of a scoping study to assess the feasibility of redevelopment of the area. The study has been commissioned by Sidmouth Town and East Devon District Councils, who are the major landowners of the site, and is the first step in exploring options for the area.

The study will also identify the boundaries, ownership and the needs of existing occupants. Over the last few months the consultants and officers have visited the tenants on the site including the Lifeboat and Sailing Club. They have spent time with these organisations to learn more about their activities and understand the important work they carry out which included the logistics of manoeuvring boats and trailers.

From June 26 to July 31, the ideas were consulted on and almost 250 people and organisations put forward their views.

East Devon District Council and Sidmouth Town Council will both see the raw questionnaire data, analyse the responses to this consultation and create a summary of what everyone has said. The consultation report will be sent onto the consultants. It will also be made publicly available online on this webpage.

The consultants will then look at producing a set of recommendations which will balance community expectations with what is achievable in the area. These recommendations are expected to be considered by Sidmouth Town Council and East Devon District Council later in the year.
