In case you missed this week's Sidmouth Herald, on page 4, it had splashed across two thirds of the page a critique of the Business Park planning application, along with a plea for the site to be taken out of the Local Plan at the first opportunity.

Take business park land out of Local Plan say campaigners 

Many of us believe that the site, as Marianne argues, shouldn't ever have been included in the Local Plan to start with. We also are flabbergasted how the District Council failed spectacularly at the eleventh hour to remove it from the Local Plan, after it realised that local residents were very unhappy with its inclusion, 

Unfortunately, the next version of the Local Plan isn't due to be published for several years, but that cannot be preparing to argue for the site's removal from it. Surely, the District Council, who's last official position on this matter was to agree to remove the site from the Local Plan, cannot do another about turn and determine to include it in the next Local Plan? Or can they?

No doubt as we head towards next year's District Council elections this may become an issue that candidates are quizzed upon. No doubt they are already scribbling down their answers! Perhaps the Campaign will consider holding local hustings to get their thoughts on this and other key local planning issues that affect us in the Sid Valley. You never know!
