ANXIETY over the future of healthcare in North Devon was expressed throughout 2016 - particularly after a leaked NHS document indicated serious threat to local hospital services.
As the New Year got started the Journal asked Northern Devon Healthcare Trust to provide members of the public with an update on the progress of its Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP). And the trust's chief executive Dr Alison Diamond has shared the Success Regime's "vision" and their "seven key priorities".
In her statement Dr Diamond's addresses the widespread fear that the uniquely challenging landscape and geography of North Devon has not been taken into account in the draft plans.
She assures those worried that "people are fully involved in this work who are well aware of the remoteness of the Hospital".

It is clear that services cannot cope:

And centralising services does not make sense anyway:
